  1. During this round of interviewing I was only an observer, but I still gained valuable insight just from watching and taking notes. Both the interviewers and interviewees did very well when introducing themselves, and the interviewers explained the job role and how the interview would go which is important in making the candidate feel comfortable. The questions were almost all very to-the-point and related specifically to the job field, and guiding questions were asked when the interviewers wanted more information out of the candidate. Also talking about appropriate questions for a candidate to ask during an interview was informative because I learned you shouldn’t directly ask them about salary during the interview. Overall it was really helpful to see these mock interviews because they gave an idea of how real interviews could go in the future, and learning what kinds of things you should and shouldn’t say can help down the road when we are being interviewed for jobs like this in the future.

  2. During the second round of interviews, I was on the committee that was interviewing people. Overall, I believe it went well and smoothly. Our group had our questions ready to go and without hesitation we were able to give them. The flow of the conversation never slowed and it was smooth. These interviews were able to help us determine what questions worked best and helped us shape our responses. The candidates were also good with answering the questions and giving us some in return. There is not much more I would change about the interviews and we can continue to improve on our communication through it.

  3. During this round of interviews i noticed a lot more comfortability and fulidity. It definitely felt more like an actual interview. It was seemingly like an actual structured conversation. I did noticed the slight mental fatigue then gets put on people after doing an interview back to back. I felt like all participators involved were prepared, and well rehearsed on their questions. I also liked the improvizations that had to happen when the interviewe asked someting that wasnt something that we had to like salary or insurance. I think that shows that we were invested in our situation and took things seriously. Overall, I do think that this was a helpful simulation for when I am on both sides of the corporate spectrum. This prepared me and openedmy eyes to a lot of things.

  4. I had a much different experience Fridays class than I did on Tuesdays. This was because I had a new role. I was interviewed by the Goofy Dumplings. I think my interview went pretty well considering the sort of unserious nature that surrounded it. Seeing a few before as an observer definitely helped me as I got to think some through some questions I felt would be asked. Overall I think the interviews performed on Friday were pretty important for the class to see as a whole. I feel that the post interview wrap ups were very helpful in really beginning to grasp what an interview should be like and how you should act within one.

  5. During this round of interviews, I was both an audience member and an interviewee. As an audience member I watched how the two other people conducted themselves during their interviews and listened to the feedback that they got. It was nice being able to watch these interviews first because I used the feedback they got in my interview, and I feel as though it helped me a lot. When it was my turn to be interviewed, I tried to do it like I would for any interview because I genuinely wanted to hear the feedback from my classmates and professor to see what I can work on and what went well. I have not had to do an interview since I was a freshman in high school because I have been working at the same place since then so this was also a great time for me to see how well I could do an interview if I had to today. Overall, I am very happy with how the interview I did went, I got great feedback and now know what to do and what to continue to do in the future when I have some big time interviews.

  6. After reflecting on class it was a lot more interactive for me. Unlike last class where all I did was sit and watch, I got to be part of the search committee seeing who would be a valid option to pick. We got to interview two different people from different teams. I think my groups flowed very well together and it felt very natural, we also felt really peppered for this part of the project as well which was good and did a lot for us. As for the interviewees it also went really well, they both had really thought out answers which helped us keep our flow in the project. As for when I was observing for the second group I noticed a lot of good things going on. They also felt very prepared which made the whole class look really good and prepared. One thing I really like was when we asked the interviewee if they had questions, they all have a couple of questions at the ready which really helped the groove feel good and made everything feel natural.

After the interviews last class, I think a lot of good things happened. As someone who was the one who was interviewing, we had some great feedback and some things that we need to work on. The observers really enjoyed our questions and the ability to add follow up questions to any of the interviewees answers on the spot. They also noticed how relaxed we seemed. However, on the other side of that, some observers thought we had very broad questions and misleading information in our answers. So for things that we would change would be to all understand the plan coming in, and ask more precise questions.

The Interviews in our second round were much more thorough and professional than the first round of interviews. I was an observer this time around and things were much more well rounded from my perspective. The search committee did a much better job of touching on all the required subjects. Specifically outlining the overall interview and further detailing the next steps of the interview process. Wesley’s group did a great job of outlining the interview process and assuring the interviewee that there would be time for questions at the end of the interview. There were still some things said that seemed far fetched and I remember one question in particular regarding salary which was deemed unprofessional. In my future interviews I will make sure to research the company that I’m applying for before I walk into the interview. Not only is it important to understand the job description in full, but it will make me seem more professional in the eyes of the search committee.

  9. During this round of interviews I had a different role than in the first section. This time I was able to observe all three of the interviews and take notes about what we should do better the next time that we interview others. I was able to observe how the other interviewers conducted their interviews and the questions that they asked the interviewee. It gave me really good insight on how we can conduct our interviews in a more seamless manner. It gave me more understanding about how we can create a better interview that matches the criteria for the type of applicant that we want for the position. Overall it was really helpful to see these interviews and be able to observe how we can correct our process and move forward in a positive way to select the best candidate.

Today I feel like the interviews were much better than last time. As this time I was in person it was good to experience it. The introductions were on point and even the communication I loved overall. This time everybody that got interviewed and the interviewee’s seem more comfortable this go around. The vibe in the room for some reason felt like a real interview. I loved that the interviewers were prepared for any questions that were asked to them and they provided a ton of information for the interviewee.

  11. What became visible in the last class was that I was able to interview well and not be too nervous. What I would do again is remain calm and make sure I enter the same way and always be quick to answer the questions asked and not fumble too much with my words. In the future I would change a few of the questions I asked during my interview. As an observer what became visible to me was that the groups have things set pretty well to create a final interview. What I would do differently if I were in the groups is to make sure they don’t fluff things too much such as clocking in and clocking out on a salary based job.

  12. Last class my group got to be the interviewers and it was a cool experience to be on the other side for once. The goal the Midnight Mafia wanted to achieve was getting to know the interviewee’s not only just as a worker but as a person as well. How we achieved that was asking them more personal questions about themselves and a few scenarios that they have been through before.

  13. Last class period I was on the interview counsel, however this class I was an observer. I feel like I learned a lot just being an observer, I was able to take notes on peoples body language and how that body language is making them be perceived by the other people. I feel like I also just have a really good grasp on the whole interviewing process, as in the steps and format of it, and feel like I would be confident enough to do this professionally in the future. The part I found to be most interesting and important were the different types and styles of questions asked during the interviews, both by the interviewers, and interviewees. I feel like it is very important to establish a good first connection and answering questions in depth, yet to the point, and for the interviewee, asking your own questions to show that you are interested in and considering the part. Overall, the past two classes have gone very well and I feel that myself, and the class as a whole, have learned and fully understand the interview process.
